About Unfoldings
The intention of Unfoldings is to support the realization of our deepest identity as an inextricable part of the larger unfolding web of life. Through one-on-one mentoring and group retreats, individuals are mentored in letting go of the safe shores of the known into a direct experience of their own creative emergence. By focusing on an intimate and immediate engagement with all that seeks to awaken us, the various offerings through Unfoldings invite the discovery of our deepest belonging, both to ourselves and to the world at large.
The invitation is to shift our center of gravity: out of what is conditioned; into what is ever evolving. When we dissolve beyond our separate sense of self we come to the realization that our deepest nature is in a continual state of becoming. Rather than waiting, as we often do, for crisis to move us forward, the path through Unfoldings involves attuning ourselves to that which seeks to express itself through us.
Rather than striving for a vision "out there", the journey is toward active engagement with the subtle and constant whisperings within and around us. When we surrender to what's right before us - to life itself - we are naturally moved, authentically and spontaneously, from within. The movement is gentle, yet passionately fierce in its ability to carry us through our own difficult edges to a lived expression of our deepest being.
When we awaken to our essential nature we awaken to our inherent connection with the larger web of life. Through mutually reflective interactions with the more-than-human world, the programs through Unfoldings foster a more intimate and conscious encounter with the world at large. By re-membering our place within the unfolding fabric we support our ability to live in a way that is life enhancing rather than life destroying.
About Kerry
I have worked in the fields of psychotherapy, energy/body work, Somatic Experiencing trauma work, depth astrology, nature based retreats and vision quests for over two decades. Over the years I have been blessed with wise and supportive mentors. They lovingly and skillfully guided me by providing safe containers while inviting my own authentic expression forward, many times beyond what was comfortable.
I am grateful especially to Bill Plotkin, Ph.D., of Animas Valley Institute; Steven Foster, Ph.D., and Meredith Little of the School of Lost Borders; renowned astrologer Steven Forrest; and, especially, Adyashanti who so beautifully articulates and exemplifies the full paradoxical spectrum of what I held within my inner experience, both personally and in my work with others.
I received my B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermonth. I went on to receive a Masters Degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco after completing a three year training through the Vermont Center for Psychosynthesis. Currently I serve as adjunct faculty at CIIS where I co-teach courses with cosmologist Brian Swimme, Ph.D., on what it is to live in participatory engagement within a living universe and in more authentic alignment with the cultural and ecological shift of our time. In addition to my formal training, my life and work have been strongly influenced by friendship and creative partnership with Brian.
Although what I learned from others is invaluable, it is through intimately knowing what it is to cross through the various thresholds of such unchartered waters, beyond the safe and familiar, that guides me most profoundly in my work. I spent years struggling with how to live, in a consistent way, from the truth of what I discovered when on retreat or in the heart of the wilds. Over and over I experienced the nature of my deepest being only to (apparently) lose it upon returning home.
Unfoldings is a direct outpouring of my desire to support you in more consistent and self-referenced inner guidance. While I have by no means arrived, as there is no final destination in our constant becoming, I have come to know something about the nature of transformation and what's involved in surrendering to the inherent pull of our deepest being. In this light I warmly extend the various offerings through Unfoldings as portals to your journey.
